Let's Get Dancing!

Updated: Apr 23

Music is a huge part of our lives. We LOVE it. Before becoming a mom I loved to go out and dance. Some of my fondest memories of my husband and I in Chile are when we would go out dancing. We've incorporated dancing and music into Lilah's life practically since birth. She now LOVES to dance as well and it is so fun to have family dance parties. Apart from the fun of it, dancing is great for your mind and body. It is a mood booster and is also proven to reduce anxiety. It also improves coordination, balance, and mobility. All in all, you can't go wrong with dancing!

Dancing is a great way to bond with your little one and if you are feeling stressed out or are feeling the burn out of this pandemic, it can be a great way to put your mind on the present moment and get some endorphins moving! So, I encourage you to turn your favorite song on today and dance with your little one and partner (if you have one)!

Here's a video of Lilah and Bruno dancing incase you wanted your heart melted!

In addition to wanting to encourage you to dance today I also wanted to provide a list of some great toys, books, and electronics that we have bought for Lilah in order to incorporate music and dancing into her everyday life.

Stoie's Music Set

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this music set. The quality is amazing and I love the natural wood. It enables us to have fun making music with Lilah. Not a day goes by that she doesn't play some music.

In order to incorporate this into her everyday life, I have created a "music corner" in her play area. I have all the instruments at her level so she can grab which ever one she wants and I also try to always keep them organized in order to make it less stimulating

and overwhelming for her.

Here is a picture of our "music corner" set up!

Babies Around the World Dancing Book

This book is simple, yet fun. It takes your little one on a trip around the world to learn about different cultural dances. A fun thing to do with this book is to look up the music that goes with each dance. You could then stop on each page and do the dance. Lilah loves looking at the pictures of the babies dancing.

Hello, World! Music Book

The Hello, World! books are fantastic. They introduce real life concepts to toddlers and babies in fun and interesting ways. This book goes through the musical instruments and teaches your little one about the different sounds. One thing I love to do with this book is get all her Stoie's instruments out and play them when the instrument appears on the page. Not all the instruments in the book are in the music set, but the real life exposure is great for

them to connect the object with the book.

Jooki Music Player

I was SO excited to share the Jooki with you because it has added so much fun and dancing into our day! It is a screen free music play for little ones. You can connect the different figurines to different Spotify playlists you have made for your little one and then when your little one changes the head, the playlist changes. It's a great way to let them be in charge of their music and it also helps them fine tune their fine motor skills by putting the head on the machine. I searched for a link to share with you as we bought ours on Amazon but it appears they no longer carry it. I have linked the direct link to the Jooki website above but it appears that may be re-doing to Jooki to make it better than before. So you can get on their mailing list to be notified when it's ready to be purchased. I reccomend keeping your eye out for it because it is such a fun way to have music around all the time!
